Regulation of cell signaling by inner leaflet lipids

How can inner leaflet lipids directly regulate EGF receptor signaling at the level of the receptor and its downstream signaling effector proteins? Aiming at understanding this phenomenon, we will apply cellular, biochemical and mass spectrometry methods to correlate receptor signaling with lipid allosteric feedback mechanisms. In parallel, we will use synthetic membrane systems and caged lipids to reveal the molecular basis for the controlled recruitment of commonly shared signaling effector proteins to the membrane.
